Physical Intervention Trainers

With the recent update of Security Industry qualifications, in particular the SIA Door Supervisors qualification, the SIA, in consultation with awarding bodies, released the specifications for instructors to gain Level 3 Physical Intervention Trainers qualification. Carlton Training has been awarded Master Trainer status by City and Guilds in support of this process.

Although some employers have provided Physical Intervention training in the past, now that SIA has announced the specification requirements for both front line licensed Door Supervisors and Physical Intervention trainers, Carlton Training can offer a nationally recognised qualifications across the sector.

An important point is that trainers of Door Supervisors should be able to gain Physical Intervention Trainer qualifications in order to safely and effectively provide training to candidates aiming for the SIA Door Supervisor Licence, which up until now has been missing from the licence structure.

Candidates are already taught Conflict Management skills and instructors are required to have the City and Guilds 1886 Conflict Management Trainers Certificate, or equivalent. Now they will also be expected to pass an instructor-assessed practical session in Physical Intervention

Carlton Training now provides the Level 3 Physical Intervention Instructors award training course) which enables instructors, teachers and learners to offer SIA Security Training compliance with the new SIA requirements.

Annual updates are also available for instructors who need to refresh or revise their Physical Intervention training skills and keep abreast of current best practice in the security industry training sector.

We anticipate that well trained and up to date skills learnt on the Carlton Training Level 3 Physical Intervention Trainers course will enable instructors to contribute to a safer working environment and encourage frontline staff to act in a lawful and professional manner as befits a 21st century industry.
