Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) Entry Requirements

To meet the enrolment criteria for our Level 5 Diploma in Teaching (Further Education and Skills) online course, you’ll need literacy and IT skills to conduct the research required to qualify. You do not need to have a degree.

You should have qualifications or experience in your subject area, and two colleagues or volunteers to act as your mentors. Once of these should be in your own subject area and another in a different subject area or institution.

There is also the requirement that you complete at least 150 hours of logged teaching which can be done during or after the course.

How is the course assessed?

You’ll be assessed throughout the duration of the course and required to complete various assignments. Assessments include both theoretical and practical exercises, such as being monitored teaching your pupils or candidates.

There is no written exam.

Your subject specialist mentor must be a fully qualified teacher and competent in teaching in your subject area. Your other mentor must also be a fully qualified teacher and will provide support for more general areas of advice and support.

You’ll also work closely with one of our expert tutors, who will provide advice and support throughout your training. This tutor will guide you towards achieving your qualification by assessing your work and providing support, feedback and advice.

They will also participate in your final assessment which involves a face-to-face interview or viva covering what you have learned.
