What does this course cover?
The combined course covers everything included in the Level 3 AET, the Level 3 CAVA and the Level 4 IQA, so you’ll get . This includes how to devise and teach courses using a variety of modern teaching methods, planning and carrying out assessments, as well as how to carry out internal quality assurance,
Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
An introduction to what you need to do in education and training.
Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Where you plan and carry out a small-scale lesson, also known as microteaching.
Unit 3: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
Giving you the essential knowledge and theoretical background needed if you are involved with assessing, both as an assessor and a trainer
Unit 4: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
Where you plan, carry out and review assessments in the workplace
Unit 5: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding
Where you plan, carry out and review assessments in a learning environment such as training courses, classrooms or refresher training sessions.
Unit 6: Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
Covering the background knowledge you need to effectively carry out any internal quality assurance work.
Unit 7: Internally assure the quality of assessment
Here you go through a range of practical skills you can apply in the internal quality assurance process. You’ll plan and carry out some internal quality assurance activities.

The Level 3 AET Award in Education and Training is the most popular course for people teaching or training adults. It replaced a previous training qualification known as PTLLS and enables you to train individuals on recognised qualifications in your subject area at your workplace or on courses.
The Level 3 CAVA qualification replaces the previous A1 and A2 assessor awards and is the most up to date assessor qualification available in the UK. It enables you to carry out assessments in the workplace, classroom and other learning environments.
The Level 4 IQA qualification allows you to carry out internal quality assurance at your workplace and on courses, as well as sampling and reporting on assessments carried out by others. It replaces the V1 and V2 qualifications and is the most up to date IQA qualification available in the UK.
With these qualifications, you have proof that you are both a trainer, an assessor and also an IQA – with expertise in all areas.

What are the entry requirements?
For the Level 3 AET course units, there are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to have knowledge or expertise in the subject/s you are teaching.
For the Level 3 CAVA course units, you will need to conduct assessments on two candidates in your workplace or learning environments, this could be a voluntary group or community setting.
For the Level 4 IQA part of the course, you will need access to people carrying out assessments at your workplace, voluntary organisation or in a community setting.
How is the course assessed?
We will assess you on the theory covered throughout the course and how you apply these skills to planning and carrying out training, assessment and internal quality assurance.
Should I take the combined CAVA and IQA course online or in-house?
If you’d prefer to study in-house, we also provide this course as a cost-effective 7-day onsite face to face course for a group at your workplace. Our on-site group training offers flexibility, with dates and times available to suit your organisation. This allows you the freedom to choose when and where the course takes place, and our expert tutors will visit you to train your group.
Whether to take the course online or in-house is entirely up to you. Some students find it more flexible to take their course online and fit it around their schedule, whereas others prefer to take it in-house at their workplace.
