Navigating Through Conflict
In the wake of escalating terrorist attacks and various conflicts worldwide, there has been an increased emphasis on security and managing conflict in the workplace. In the United Kingdom, the private security industry became an area of heightened focus, particularly after 2001.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) was formed in 2003 and has since begun to endorse a number of training bodies who now offer its qualifications in compliance with various UK qualification and regulatory authorities.
Many students who undertake courses with Carlton Training come from occupations such as security guards, parking attendants, community wardens and other front-line staff, and wish to become teachers and trainers of these courses. City and Guilds offers a comprehensive range of qualifications for this and other varied vocational pathways.
To obtain the City and Guilds Conflict Management Training Certificate, you may wish to participate in a course at an approved training centre such as Carlton Training in London. Carlton Training offers the Conflict Management Trainer 1886 course, which is for anyone wishing to teach or train adults in conflict management and leads to the City and Guilds 1886 Certificate for Deliverers of Conflict Management Training. Conflict Management 1886 includes two units: Understanding the Principles of Conflict Management and Designing and Delivering Conflict Management Learning. Attendees are tested by one exam paper (multiple choice) and one practical teaching demonstration. An individual can take the course at the Carlton Training centres nationwide or alternatively, a company may wish for staff to be taught at their own workplace.
It’s important to note that attendees of the 1886 course need to have existing knowledge of conflict management and a teaching qualification. If you don’t have the teaching qualification, Carlton Training offers the PTLLS (Prepare to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) and 1886 courses combined.
